BRUICHLADDICH –ISLE OF ISLAY
The Gaelic word “Bruichladdich” can be translated either as “stoney shore bank” or “rocky lee shore”. Owned by wine merchants until the early 2000’s, the distillery has had a mixed range of styles over the years. None the less what sets Bruichladdich apart from most distilleries is a focus on traditional methods.

This classic laddie is a non-aged statement from a fast emerging distillery. An aroma of pear and melon dances on the nose; with a finish of vanilla and tropical fruits it is certainly a dram to please the most ardent whisky connoisseur.

This sixteen year old dram has been matured in American oak barrels, and is a complex and multi-layered malt, with a sweet vanilla finish and a ton of fruit essence.
Nose: Sweet vanilla with a touch of ginger.
Palate: Full bodied sweetness with notes of vanilla and biscuit.

This is the first aged statement from the Port Charlotte range and is distilled from malt peated at forty ppm. Creamy vanilla & dark caramel get the palate started, finishing with slight hints of bonfire toffee. Stunning.

The sixth edition from the experimental Octomore range, this dram is famous for being made with the most heavily peated barley on earth. Although intense, there is a delicate, graceful side to this whisky.

ARDBEG – ISLE OF ISLAY, PORT ELLEN
The Ardbeg distillery has been producing whisky since the late 18th Century. Located on the south coast of Islay, this is a whisky with a massive cult following. Since they have changed to a ‘no longer chill filter’ their whisky now sits at a very high percentage yielding a more flavourful taste.

Released on world Ardbeg day 2014, this whisky is named for Ardbegs gold and green label, and the colours of the Brazilian flag; a homage to the 2014 World Cup.
Taking its name from the famous whirlpool that lies to the north of Islay, where only the bravest souls dare to venture. This whisky starts with chocolate and blackberries on the palate, with hickory and star anise before the finish.

LAGAVULIN – ISLE OF ISLAY
Referred to as the “Prince of Islay”, Lagavulin has been around since 1816. Lagavulin holds claim to Scotland’s slowest distillation with five hours for the first distillation and a further nine for the second. Despite the pungency of this single malt, there is a distinctive smoothness to the palate that many attribute to the leisurely rate of distillation.

LAPHROAIG – ISLE OF ISLAY
No one knows the full history of Laphroaig. Much of it has been lost in the midst of time. What is clear is that the Irish had been distilling in the area for many years; it is thought that the locals borrowed these skills and founded the distillery in 1815. Laphroaig is named for the area of land at the head of Loch, on the south coast of the Isle.

Smokey and iodine rich, this is one of Scotland’s most distinctive and complex drams. Laphroaig are known for their medicinal malts and the ten year old is no exception.
